The Best Oyster Specials in Houston
We’ve been on an oyster kick recently, and while they’re not hard to find on a menu in Houston, they can get a bit expensive if you hit the well-known spots when there are no specials going on.
Our quest for happy hours and reasonable market prices resulted in this round up that allows you to indulge without breaking the bank.
Liberty Kitchen
River Oaks, Memorial
Liberty Kitchen has one of Houston’s best Happy Hours for $1 oysters raw or chargrilled (in addition to their other great drink and food specials!). This goes from 3 – 6 pm on the weekdays, but the best part is they also offer it on Sundays from 5 – 9 pm.
Their location in Memorial also has live music every Saturday night!
Eugene’s Gulf Coast Cuisine
River Oaks
The Sporting Club
Washington
The Sporting Club is an awesome new spot right on the Washington strip that has specials every day of the week. Thursdays are the day to head over for your raw oyster fix.
They have $1 each East Coast Oysters on the half shell, which makes for a reasonably priced weeknight outing when paired with their Happy Hour (that goes until 7 pm!).
Check out their seafood towers as well for something a little more extravagant.
Georgia James/Hay Merchant
Montrose
Georgia James and Hay Merchant are two side-by-side concepts conjured up by Underbelly Hospitality. They share a kitchen but have totally different vibes – Georgia James is more of a fancy date night type, while Hay Merchant is a casual come-as-you-are spot with a zillion craft beers on tap.
The other thing they have in common is their daily happy hour featuring – you guessed it – oysters!
Tuesday – Sunday from 5:00 – 6:30 pm (they are closed on Mondays), you can indulge in $1 oysters served raw or Viet-Cajun style. Pair that with a $5 martini for a start to your evening that won’t break the bank.
Acme Oysters
Montrose
Acme Oysters has been a staple in New Orleans for over 100 years. They’ve expanded over time to multiple locations across the south, and they’ve now opened their first Texas outpost right in Houston.
In addition to the shucked-to-order oysters that they are so well known for, you can also find Creole favorites like gumbo and po’ boys.
City Acre Brewing
North East Houston
City Acre Brewing doesn’t have oysters available every day, but we highly recommend staying on top of their social media to know when they do.
Specials on the weekends include items like oysters and eggs for &8.95 and a dozen Rockefeller oysters for $9.95. Pair that with their other brunch items and drinks to make it a whole thing.
Studewood Grill
Heights
Studewood Grill is a spot we have yet to try, but we’ve heard that their Thursday oyster special is where it’s at – $1 each served raw from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.
We will be sticking around for some boudin and a burger when we do get around to visiting!
Christian’s Tailgate
Multiple Locations
Christian’s Tailgate is the place you want to start off your weekend! They have $.75 oysters served raw and an awesome happy hour every Friday across their multiple locations.
Check them out to watch a game or enjoy a laid back patio atmosphere into the evening.
